Bio
Wanderers brought midfielder Matt Butcher to Adams Park on a permanent deal following his departure from Championship club Plymouth Argyle in January 2024.
Butcher was an integral part of the Pilgrims’ title-winning side in League 1 in 2022/23, and featured 18 times in the Championship.
A Bournemouth academy graduate, Matt spent time on loan in non-league with Gosport and Woking before making his first strides in the EFL with Yeovil, featuring against the Chairboys in the 2016/17 campaign.
He enjoyed a stint north of the border with St Johnstone before making a permanent switch to Accrington Stanley in 2020, and scored at Adams Park on the first day of the 2021/22 season before contributing an assist in the reverse fixture.
Plymouth was his next destination, and his 48 appearances last year included the two 1-0 wins against Wycombe, with his final game for the Devon club coming in a 1-1 draw at Leeds United.
