Bio
Attacking-midfielder David Wheeler joined the Chairboys on the eve of the 2019/20 season, leaving Queens Park Rangers on a free transfer.
Wheeler earned a move into the EFL with Exeter City after starting out in non-league with Staines and Lewes. The 2016/17 campaign with Exeter City saw Wheeler catch the eye of Championship side QPR, as he scored 20 times for the Grecians.
He moved out on loan to Portsmouth and MK Dons, clinching the goal which saw the Dons promoted to League One on the final day of the 2018/19 season.
Wheeler joined the Chairboys in summer 2019 and scored in Wycombe’s first-leg semi-final victory against Fleetwood, playing in the two remaining games which took the Blues to the Championship.
Wheeler went on to make 41 appearances in all competitions during the 2020/21 Championship season, scoring three goals, and went on to remain a regular part of the matchday squad over the coming seasons.
